Sutton, Frederick (attributed to)

This print which came with a group of other Frederick Sutton images of Asia published by the British firm of Frith & Co. in the late 1860s/early 1870s. Sutton was an enthusiastic member of an amateur group of navy personnel photographers, mainly officers, working for the British forces on the China Station. Other members of the circle included Walter Talbot Kerr, J. Pearson and J. Parkyn, and it is possible that one of these was the author of this image, since their work was also published by Frith. Sutton visited Singapore around 1868 on board HMS Serpent.
